My type of sculpture was a coil pot. I let my imagination flow while creating it. The pattern I used was two regular coils, and then one braided coil. The goal of my sculpture was to turn it into a pencil or pen holder. How to Create a Coil Pot: *Always wedge your clay before working with it by making pressing motions* 1.) Pinch off a piece of clay 2.) Roll it into a coil 3.) Score both the pieces that will be connected. 4.) Slip one piece 5.) Repeat

At the beginning of this until our art teachers showed us a video of an artist who's hand shook. He talked about overcoming his limitation and "embracing the shake." Our assignment was to create our own limitation. I choose to blow ink through a straw and let it branch out on the paper. When I felt I was done, I thought it looked like a tree. A cherry blossom to be exact. I then painted on the flowers in detail to contrast the blandness of the blown ink. My final product reflects how a limitation can actually be a beautiful thing. I applaud real artists that embrace their shake and don't let their limitation, whatever it may be, weigh them down. |
