Im not sure where the picture for my contour room is, but I did have a lot of fun drawing it. I think I could have been a little bit neater but overall it was a fun project that I'd like to do again.
Unfortunatly, I don't think this turned out as well as it could have. I think the drawing in the lights instead of the darks threw me off. It was very challenging for me and I'm not proud of the way it turned out.
I am not sure what happened to the picture I had of my shape shading, but do think I did well on that. It's one of my favorite things to do. It's challenging to figure out which areas to make dark and light, but I like a challenge.
This is my final fabric piece. Overall I think I did well, for my level of expertise. I do wish I had made my lines more defined and sharp, instead of smooth.
This is my blind contour and my modified contour drawing. As you can see they are drastically different. This is my first hand contour drawing. I'm not too pleased with it, but since it was my first it's not terrible.
My most successful art project was from the proportion/ reaction unit we did. It was of Brendon Urie playing gitaur and I think it turned out extremely well I would have to say my most unsuccessful/ challenging piece was my latest project. It was extremely hard to come up with an idea for that one.
In taking this sculpture class, I was exposed to a variety of tools that I had never used before. One of which was called a paper cutter. I used this tool to cut strips of construction paper to use for my vessel piece. I used a technique called quilling and without the paper cutter it would have been a lot harder to efficiency cut the strips of paper that were required for this project. Since the beginning of the semester, I feel like my effectiveness in using tools has immensely increased. The majority of tools I used in this class have been ones I have never been exposed to before and it was intriguing to learn about how many different tools there actually are. I feel like using all the tools I did bettered my artistic ability and opened more opportunities for me to express myself through my artwork. One of those is represented well through my pit-fired piece. I had never heard about this technique until this class, but now it was one of my favorite pieces I had made. There are many different materials that I enjoyed working with this semester. The one that rises above the rest is paper. This material is my favorite because of how versatile it is and how it is used in one of my favorite art techniques, quilling. I used paper in a variety of projects this year and I've never gotten bored. Paper is also my favorite martial because it is easy to work with and use. One of my favorite and largely successful techniques that I used this semester is embroidery. All of the pieces that I made using this technique turned out well and I was happy with their outcome. Another reason embroidery is my favorite technique is because of how relaxing it is. If I need to calm myself down I always embroider and it puts me in a relaxed state. My favorite piece using this technique was my figurative project where I embroidered my cat's face. One of the hardest times in this class was generating an idea for the dwelling project. I thought of basing projects off of the word dwelling was a neat idea, but I had a lot of trouble coming up with my own. I spent a lot of timing thinking about what the word dwelling means to me and I thought about how much I loved tree houses and how I've always wanted to live and "dwell" in one. That was the thought that sparked my idea for this project. I ended up embroidering a house in a tree in a very simplistic style.
This project was really fun to see come together. Everyone created the cranes using paper. They varied in size. We first started out with paper cranes and we strung them along a string, taped them down, and hung them over the front office area. What I got out of this lesson was that small things can really come together and make something great. It was amazing to see how all of the cranes looked when they were finally all hung up. The difference between process is product is that process is when you learn things and experience new ideas. Product is when you can look back on all of the things you've learned and experienced.
